Woman Arrested for a Fortune Teller Scam
A California woman named Lola Miler pleaded guilty last August 20th because she scammed a woman into thinking that she was cursed. Miller, 56, has been charged with two counts of grand theft for the psychic/fortune teller scam. From August 2004 to March 2005, Miller was ab
le to scam the victim into giving her $350,000 in cash and about $95,000 worth of good and services. The victim was convinced that Miller would be able to life this so-called curse the victim was told was she had on her and her family.
The victim has passed away from cancer leaving her husband who has said that any money that is retrieved from this case will be donated to cancer research.
On December 1, 2008 Miller will be sentenced. Her time in jail will be based on how much “restitution her family pays before her sentencing date.” For example, if a restitution of $400,000 is paid than Miller will be sentenced to two years in a state prison.
