San Diego police responded  to a call to Filiberto’s taco how on Ulric Street and Linda Vista Road around 10:20 pm Wednesday night  

Taco shop workers told police that two men walking into the shop and shouted for money.  One of the men had a gun.

Soon after police make a car pull over but the passenger took off on foot down Ulric Street heading east.  The suspect was running into an apartment complex where he asked the residents of they would help hide him from the police.  None of the residents complied and the suspect ran off.

Police finally apprehended the suspect on Burroughs Street where they “were attempting to gain control” of the man.  Police reported that he moved his hand forward and was reaching for his waistband.  The police told him to put his hands where they could see them.  When he didn’t show his hands, police shot once and hit him in his side.

The man, 29, was taken to the hospital.  His wound was not life threatening.

The man did not have a gun on him at the time he was shot.  But police did find a loaded gun at the apartment complex where he tried to get residents to hide him.

The other man that helped in the robbery stayed in the car and was taken into custody.
