Man that Stabbed a K9 Sentenced
San Diego-CBS8
In both 1997 and 2002, Patrick Gautier, 43, was convicted for assault with a deadly weapon. Now on April 28, 2008 Gautier pleaded guilty to another assault with a deadly weapon. He could face probation or five years in prison. Tuesday he will know what his sentence will be.
It was around 8:40 pm on January 23rd that Gautier was at the Travelodge Motel on El Cajon Blvd. Police were called to the scene because Gautier was yelling and waving a knife around in the motel parking lot or courtyard.
Gautier also went behind a woman that he knew and put a knife against her while holding her. He eventually let her go and raced up to the third-floor balcony while still waving his knife in a stabbing motion.
There were K-9 Units called to the scene. The K-9 officer went to the third floor with his police dog Jake and found Gautier sitting one the floor. He commanded Gautier to show his hands to the officer. Gautier stood up and plunged with his knife directly toward the officer.
The officer released Jake and shot at Gautier but missed. Jake didn’t miss though. He bit Gautier on his arm but Gautier stabbed Jake in his side. Jake, a 2-year-old German shepherd was taken to an animal hospital for medical treatment.
